When people reject the mainstream scientific model, they can become very gullible. Their minds may become too available to any alternative that supports their unconscious biases. Many lack the capacity to distinguish between what we might explore theoretically or as a model and what is literally “true.” Trump’s political rise is also a result of this lack of intellectual rigor, which has infected the population, just as various forms of delusional mystification hypnotized the German population before World War Two."
