A HOOK IN THE PLACE OF THY

But there'll be one who will collect my soul
And come to me"

INDIA IN ME

India, India, India… you shocked me but mostly I was amused, you showed me beggars and bastards, but most of all you brought amazing, great and interesting people in my life.
You gave me extra kilos from all the ghee and sugar on the food, but I did not get sick and will dance it all off. You made me cry sometimes but in general you put a big smile in my face and made me laugh out loud. You made combine red and blue, and like it. You made me used to things I've never even thought about.
It was wonderful times! I must thank Annemarie Koerten (most of the words above are hers) for the magnificent company (now, that's a travel partner!) and Regenerate Music for bringing me over to play and taking care of every single detail to make my journey magical! I am definitely coming back.

"WHY TAKE DRUGS WHEN YOU CAN GET HIGH ON GOD'S GLORY?"

I'm a kind of apatheist, but still highly curious on the questionable new techniques to attract and convert people to some belief system in the internet/youtube era.
Meet Matthew, the Christian Trance DJ and Brandon, the Red Letter Ministry, who promise to teach  you to "get high on God" by praying, sniffing essential oils and smoking imaginary joints: http://bit.ly/drunkongod

(My mean'n'sarcastic side is tickling after watching this, but we must remember to respect all religions and beliefs that respect other religions and beliefs. Right?)
ps.: Jonathan Rauch described apatheism as "a disinclination to care all that much about one's own religion, and an even stronger disinclination to care about other people's".

MIDSUMMER NIGHT PORN

Last weekend I played in the latest edition of the infamous Pornceptual parties, that took place in St Georg, a cellar club next to Ritter Butzke. I appreciate Pornceptual's concept: Every party takes place in a different club, with a specific hedonistic theme. The aim is to celebrate our bodies as we are and do whatever you feel like, without shame. Dance, play, fuck, have fun. People really dress up down accordingly. Attending naked gives you free entry, and prices kinda rise the more clothes you have. There is always a not-so-dark-room. Plus, they have a loyal following.
I didn't know what to expect as I thought punters were usually more into techno, but they were pretty cool and danced their naked asses off. I enjoyed seeing all that beautiful wriggling flesh bouncing to ma beats. The atmosphere resembled what I've heard Kit Kat club used to be in the golden shower days...

PLAYING IN DEPUTAMADRE CLUB, BELO HORIZONTE (english below)

ENGLISH:

Last friday we had a "Pirates" party in Deputamadre Club, my hometown. There I heard many names that made flourish my interest in electronic music. This time I've played after the techno legend (and  homie boy) Anderson Noise. Robinho, (another legend which I danced to many times while living in Belo Horizonte), also played. The dancefloor was full till the very end, despite the arrival of the sun, which invades Deputa's space after the last repagination. It only lacks some blinds, like in Panorama Bar. Deputamadre remains one of my favourite clubs ever. And one of the most important ones in my life. <3

TIME TO LEAVE... AGAIN!

I've been travelling non stop since 2009. This year was the first time I felt a bit tired of the life on the road. But even after promising myself and others to stay more still, I jumped on every travel opportunity that came along in 2013. This year I've been to Brazil, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Greece and Morocco. I've travelled to work and worked to travel.
I've been based again in Berlin since march, and now time has come to leave again. Tomorrow I'm off to Canada, where I will visit my cousin and learn to snowboard. Then I visit a friend in San Francisco and probably end my year in New York. Then I go back home in Brazil and stay there until march, working and saving money. March 2014 I'm on the road again.
Write me if you are around! :) ☠

THE SADDEST ZOO IN THE WORLD

Last month I was in Bangkok and took a random boat tour with my friend Julia. We heard about many scams, but were interested in checking every part of town anyway - even the ugly and sad ones. At some point, the driver stopped and told us to go check the "crocodile farm". There is a famous huge crocodile farm in Bangkok - which I also don't know the conditions of - but this is not the one we went. Instead it was a small zoo with no infrastructure. The sad look on all monkey's eyes struck me. We left the place with a mix of shame for falling into that trap and regret for paying entry - therefore supporting it. What can be done to change that? TRAVEL CHAOS

I'm usually good in travel planning, which I've learned after many bad experiences, like losing international flights, paying more for my luggage then for myself or buying a return ticket for a month after I needed it.
Unfortunately today I'm doubting my travel know-how, as I lost my flight from Napoli to Brussels AFTER checking in on time.
My flight was at 14h55. As I checked in, I was informed it had been delayed to 16h10. So i went to have lunch near the boarding area entrance. Around 15h15, i heard my name being called on the announcements. I ran like crazy, passed by security and arrived to my boarding gate. No one was there.
I ran outside to Brussels Airlines' ticket counter: nobody. Ran to the ticket office: a giant line. I then went to the information center, where a very cranky old lady informed me I should have kept an eye on the departure, as my plane had been ANTICIPATED. She also informed me there were no plans to Brussels on this day anymore.
Great. I run again to the ticket counter to find out where was my luggage, since I didnt board the plane. I was told someone would come bring me in the luggage pick up area.
As I wait I find out there is a flight from another company to brussels. I would have to fly to Rome and then to Brussels, arriving there at midnight. All that for the very special priçe of 400 euros. Tickets for the next day are the same price.
I was very disappointed to spent a big chunk of the money I made the night before on this stupid mistake. And it was not my mistake. If the airline changes a flight time to later, they should inform the customer of the possibility of it being anticipated.

Anyway, I'm more travel-savvynow - and I hope you are as well! ☠

ME, MYSELF AND IRENE

Every time we approach a potential tragedy it goes the same way: all TV channels and media vehicles are exploring it the most. Its necessary to keep a permanent alert feeling so people are hung up digging more news on the upcoming potential disaster. I'm impressed by the amount of different info graphics, interactive maps and other animations made to illustrate Irene's path.
Some friends of mine started complaining in Facebook, saying that media is exaggerating the event, creating a circus and terrifying people with the specific purpose of money making.

But I wonder: are they really wrong or just giving us what we need? Isn't the information actually helpful to tranquilize the people? Isn't it actually good that we can visualize all the aspects of this storm instead of just wondering how is it going?
We are all part of the press nowadays. For example, New York times put up a sort of fotolog page where you can contribute with pictures of Irene's impressions. You can also do it in Fox News, and maybe your picture gets shown in television.

I believe we are all getting feeling-less: we are so exposed to terrible images of tragedies on the movies and television every day, that maybe we are hardly shocked by violence or human suffering as we were in the past.

We like the thrill of a disaster coming. Of course we don't wanna face it, but we want to be as close as possible, experience it, and get out without any harm to us, others or our possessions. And if its possible, with some videos and quality pictures that prove that "we were there".

I know how stupid this may sound, but I will be a little frustrated if nothing happens. I'm staying in Lower East Side, in the border of  one area that could flood in case Irene comes in NYC really furious. I don't want a flood, but I would like to see the biggest storm of my life, at least - without losing internet signal, power cuts or breaking any windows, please.
In my mind I don't even consider something really bad happening. I'm not considering lack of water, power or food. Now I understand all this people that choose to stay in their houses even with all the alerts. We never think something is gonna happen with us. Its just on TV!
I've bought food and stocked water together with the friend I'm staying with, but we probably don't have supplies for more then 4 days. Silly enough, this danger thrills me and all I can think about is I would like to go around right now in the rain to get some crazy images with my waterproof HD camera.

Maybe 2012 will be tonight, in New York. And I want it to be in real life exactly like it is in the movies: unbelievably big, with all kinds of crazy things happening. I wanna be very close to it and watch it in HD. And then I want to sleep warm and calm in my cozy bed.

Maybe television is indeed better then real life.

HOME CAN WAIT. I'M STAYING LONGER IN NYC

Tomorrow its gonna be a week that I'm in New York. I've always been curious about this place. First time here.
I ended up here because I was presenting a brazilian TV show, and last season was filmed in Chicago, in a festival called Lollapalooza.
After the end of Lolapalloza I had some weeks off and decided to come experience NYC. I knew I had to leave around the 24th or 25th because I had a gig in La Paz, Bolivia, and planned to spend some time in Brasil afterwards. As usual, nothing goes as planned.
I just got a mail today, on the very first hours of august 24th, saying that the festival in Bolivia is not gonna happen anymore. "A problem with the sponsor". There was this whole Brazil team supposed to go: me, VJ Spetto, Phantazma… nobody is going anymore.
It's Bolivia, yeah, I was worried it could happen, but because of that I left my plans opened. Right now I'm staying in a friends place in Manhattan.
I was worried the Bolivia thing wouldn't come out because then I had to look for a new place to stay over here. As my friends know, I hate looking for rooms/apartments. Especially because in the past years I have been doing that every two months. Find a place, unpack, start feeling cozy, packing and leaving again. My back is fucked up from carrying shit around and sleeping in weird beds, airplane/bus seats and sometimes even in cold floors.
Before I found out about the festival gig being cancelled, tonight I went to have a drink with Mark (a friend Ive made in Brasil, in a media and technology festival called Vivo Art.mov.). We were talking and Mark told me he is leaving to Austria on thursday. As it turns out, I can rent his room in Brooklyn.

How perfect can that be? Things happen for a reason. So f*ck it all, I'm cancelling my ticket and staying in New York City. To be continued...
